Room to breathe, a walk from the sea

Tajpur is the beach people come to when Digha feels too busy. Casuarina trees, red crabs at low tide, fishing boats going out at dawn — and very little else. That is the point of it.
The resort is built as two long blocks around a planted courtyard, so every room opens onto a balcony or a verandah rather than an interior corridor. There is a proper lawn for a bonfire, a play area for children, and parking inside the gate.
“Friendly and helpful staff, good infrastructure, easy access from the main road.”

Tajpur sits between Mandarmani and Shankarpur on the Purba Medinipur coast. The turn-off is on the Kolkata–Digha highway, so you can drive straight in without navigating village lanes.
The resort is on Tajpur Beach Road, a minute's walk from the shoreline and about a hundred metres from the lighthouse.
Wide, shallow and rarely crowded. Red crabs cover the sand at low tide and the fishing boats come in around sunrise.
The nearest landmark to the resort — the easiest thing to tell your driver when you're on the way in.
Even quieter than Tajpur, and almost never visited. Worth an evening if you want the sand to yourself.
A working fishing village with a marine research station — a good half-day if you want to see the coast at work.
The fish harbour is the draw here; go in the morning when the trawlers unload the night's catch.
Marine aquarium, Amravati Park and the science centre — the busy day out, an easy drive from here.
